Health Walks on the Heath

A view of Tiptree Heath

Wednesdays 10:30 Tiptree Heath Website

The information below just gives a brief summary. Please check the Tiptree Heath Website for more information, exact timings and changes of programme.

For the young at heart, and for the young! Put on your walking boots, ready to enjoy an hour’s gentle but brisk exercise exploring the paths round Tiptree Heath.

The weekly Tiptree Heath Health Walks, part of the Walking to Health Initiative run by Natural England and supported by Colchester Borough Council, have become the activity of an ever increasing group of friendly, enthusiastic people who not only enjoy the exercise but also are increasing their interest in the outdoors and wildlife of the heath. The social aspect of the group is continued at The Ship with a cup of coffee after the walk.

The aim of the Health Walks is to encourage people who are either recovering from illness or reluctant to walk alone to take exercise to keep themselves fit. Our membership is mainly the over 50s, although we do enjoy the company of young people during the school holidays.

Road cycling activities for all, whether you are a complete novice and are keen to explore the local lanes and tea rooms at a leisurely pace or a hardened club cyclist looking for regular weekend and training rides, we are able to provide support and led rides across all disciplines. Our youngest rider is thirteen and our oldest in his eighties so don’t let age be a barrier.

We are also more than happy to help with technical advice, you don’t need the latest carbon fibre bike, anything with pedals will do, we’ll also carry out minor repairs and safety checks for your bikes and are more than happy to pass on many years of experience and road craft.

Our aim is to get the good people of Tiptree cycling, so no excuses, get in touch and start turning those pedals.
